2006 Results
In 2006 Shaun White continued his total domination at the Session capturing both the Salomon Men’s Rails competition and the Bud Light Slopestyle with yet another history-making run. For his efforts in 2006 he rode away with $39,500. Through 2006 he never lost a rails or slopestyle event at the Honda Session.
In 2005, White spun his way to a 1st place finish with a winning run that included all four combinations of 900s. In 2006, the 1080 was the trick of choice as he combined a trio with a 900 to post a score of 95.7, 2.7 points ahead of runner-up Andreas Wiig of Norway, while Wyoming’s Travis Rice claimed the third place spot with a run that included a pair of back flips off the final kicker.
Utah’s Laura Hadar claimed top honors for the ladies in the Salomon Rails competition. She collected a total of $6,000 during the women’s one-hour rails session, while the 2005 champion, Molly Aguirre, picked up the runner-up spot with $3,500. Third place honors went to Canada’s Marie-France Roy.
Hadar and Pat Milbery also earned the $1,500 prize for best trick performed during the evening. Dubbed the “Malay Factor”, the award is named in memory of Vail snowboarder Josh Malay, who passed away in February of 2004 while filming a snowboard movie in Spain.
