History
Created by the nonprofit Vail Valley Foundation in 2003, the Honda Session is a cutting edge invitational event, featuring the Steel & Sky Rail competition for men and women, along with the men’s Bud Light Slopestyle event.
The Session's innovative features push riders to progress to the next level by giving them a stellar competitive environment in which to crush. “State of the art” in park and rail design, the unique Session format allows riders countless opportunities to showcase their skillz.
With one of the most innovative cash-money payouts in the world, the Honda Session has consistently listened to the riders and the snowboard industry since day one. Industry leaders select a portion of the Honda Session’s competition field each year.
Under the lights in Golden Peak (on Vail Mountain), the Honda Session has racked up a huge spectator base. With features like the signature fireball signaling each 15-minute payout in the Steel & Sky Rails comp, and sick tricks in the Bud Light Slopestyle event, the Session is always an event that everyone is "fired up" about.
In addition to the professional competition element, the Honda Session also features the Sunday Session free clinic with Vail snowboard instructors and public rails competition for advanced riders.
Bottom line: The Session is proud to have played a role in setting the bar higher for snowboarding events by creating a fun and creative venue for riders to push their limits, and the limits of Competitive snowboarding.
