SOS Outreach is a program that introduces underprivileged youth to skiing and snowboarding with five days of lessons, equipment rental, clothing and lift tickets. SOS’s mission is “To build character in at-risk and underprivileged youth and to enhance decision-making for healthy and successful life experiences.” Their vision and goals are to improve the quality of youth by making a positive impression to instill hope and have them grow up honest and responsible. Skiing and Snowboarding’s “cool factor” creates a fast learning curve that motivates young people to get off the couch and go outside. These experiences are made to boost self-confidence and encourage comfortable interactions with others.
